Testing a reply I'm new here hi I think this is helpful and that we can yearn for familiar burns or devote to the -ship we hope for and damn pertinent timing

Wow love this insight! "Obsession burns. Devotion builds." Beautifully put, and something I think about a lot. Many spiritual traditions highlight devotion as a foundational practice for exactly this reason. And there is also a way in which devotion opens doors. When I'm genuinely devoted - with no expectations - I usually get more than I could have imagined

yes absolutely!! Reminded me of this WH Murray quote:

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of

which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way."

I have been relating devotion to commitment as well!

I've been using the phrase "in honour of" a lot lately with my coach ~ taking action in honour of or in service of the bigger picture or the deeper desire. This post feels very in line with that thought path :) Also I just finished the intention setting podcast that my bestie and I do every year (for close to the past decade) and my word for 2024 is "FULFILLED" (was a close call between this, Satisfied and Abundant). and one of the practices I wrote that was necessary in that pursuit was "conscious discipline" which I'm also now wrapping up in "discipline of devotion" so merci for that gem.

Also I LOVE the images you chose at the beginning for this. so powerful 🤘🏻

thanks as always jess for your thoughtful reply. I love "FULFILLED" ◡̈ My word is EMERGE! and wow I love that conscious discipline came through, i love that qualifier. Discipline can certainly be unconscious!

take vs give is very much my modus operandi for getting myself unstuck from not only obsession but helplessness. in the moments where I feel lack, it is easy to look at what externally is not showing up for me - but when I devote myself to amplifying and growing what I love in the world, I am graced by everything opening more fully.
